“Sometimes While Growing Up, You Find Yourself” Exhibition Images from the Eric Fischl Gallery (November 2025)

Growing up immersed in the tradition and sport of Charrería in South Phoenix, I faced identity challenges that led me to art. Initially exploring painting, drawing, and sculpture, I found solace and self-discovery in creation. My focus shifted to fashion in my early college years, using garments as "living sculptures" and capturing their essence through photography.
In 2022, weekly photoshoots honed my skills. Returning to school, I integrated my Mexican heritage into my work, leading to my current, largest project. This project involves reconnecting with my community, navigating cultural nuances, and building trust to create a unique body of work. I'm deeply grateful to the participants, my team, and my community for their support.
Creciendo inmerso en la tradición y el deporte de la Charrería en el sur de Phoenix, me enfrenté a dificultades sobre mi identidad que me llevó al arte. Al principio, explorando la pintura, el dibujo y la escultura, encontré consuelo y autodescubrimiento en la creación. Mi enfoque se centró en la moda durante mis primeros años universitarios, utilizando prendas como "esculturas vivientes" y capturando su esencia a través de la fotografía.
En 2022, durante sesiones de fotos semanales perfeccioné mis habilidades. Al regresar a la escuela, integré mi herencia mexicana en mi trabajo, lo que me llevó a mi proyecto actual más grande. Este proyecto implica reconectarme con mi comunidad, navegar por los matices culturales y generar confianza para crear un cuerpo de trabajo único. Me siento profundamente agradecido con los participantes, mi equipo, y mi comunidad por su apoyo.
